Mobility Roadshow + NEW improved Insurance & Extended Warranty Products

Firstly, sorry for the delay in updating our blog but what with summer holidays things have been a little busy.     We promise going forward to keep you up to date on a more regular basis.

Mobility Roadshow – New Products

As we put on our blog last month, we thoroughly enjoyed our busy few days at the Mobility Roadshow in Peterborough on 1st – 3rd July.  I was there on Friday 2nd July, which was apparently quieter than the first day and I had some opportunity to wander round.

Two of our main suppliers had stands, Electric Mobility and Roma Medical.  Electric Mobility’s founder, Mike Flowers, was over from the US – he has 27 years of experience of the industry which comes through clearly in the care they take with their product design – for him (as for us) , the show is a great opportunity to find out from customers what they want from the products and as an example he explained how a discussion with a customer last year, who had tipped over on a three wheel scooter, had led to the introduction of the Balance and then the new Micro Balance.  These two mobility scooters benefit from the manoeuvrability of three wheelers but have the added stability of two additional stabiliser wheels.

Roma Medical had their stunning new Sorrento mobility scooter on display – this is again an interesting insight into the product development process.  At Naidex in April, Roma showed samples of the Sorrento, which is a stylish new 4 mph mobility scooter with a 20 mile range and dismantles easily for transportation.  It got a great reception but Roma found a couple of little niggles so whilst they really wanted to get it to market, they had delayed full production of the Sorrento until they were happy that these niggles had been resolved.  The Sorrento is now available to buy -  please call us on 0800 046 3949 for our special launch price offer!

As it was a mobility show, there were a number of stands demonstrating all the different ways cars can be re-designed to take wheelchairs.  It was a pleasure to meet James from Adapted Car Hire (www.adaptedcarhire.co.uk/) – based in London, they offer a country wide car hire service for disabled drivers and passengers.  With a variety of different cars and minibuses, this seemed a very useful service for people coming either from overseas or for people wanting to take friends or relatives with special needs on trips.  Prices are apparently competitive with other (non-adapted) hire companies.

NEW improved Insurance & Extended Warranty Products

Now onto some of our news…..We are now offering 3 months FREE mobility scooter insurance whenever anyone either buys a new mobility  scooter or powerchair from us or when they take out a mobility scooter insurance policy for a year or more – so you get 15 months cover for the price of 12!  At just £65 a year for mobility scooter insurance (that’s less than 18p a day or just 13p when you add in the extra three months) we would highly recommend that you all take this offer.

The cover it gives you includes:

  • full public liability insurance, so that if you were unfortunate enough to damage someone or someone else’s property, whilst on your scooter, you will be free of any risk
  • you can leave your scooter unattended for up to an hour (as long as you take the key out) and you are covered in case of theft (so if you want to leave it outside a shop and walk round the shop, you can do so)
  • you have access to a recovery service, which is free for all faults except battery or tyre problems (if you take the Plus Insurance at £90 a year, that includes free recovery in all circumstances)

and of course it also includes all the standard protections from accidents and theft.

Discounts are available for policies of more that one year – see our insurance pages for more details or call us on 0800 046 3949.

We are also offering extended warranty cover – all our new scooters come anyway with a full 12 month cover in case of mechanical problem and you can extend that for up to 4 more years so that in case of breakdown or mechanical failure you can easily get help – see our extended warranty pages for more details or call us on 0800 046 3949.

Finally we are now offering insurance for manual wheelchairs for just £20 a year.  This gives you the peace of mind that you are covered for any accident you are involved in, whilst in your wheelchair.  For full details please click here.

Best wishes
