Dying Matters Awareness Week

In 2009, the National Council for Palliative Care (NCPC) set up the Dying Matters Coalition to promote public awareness of dying, death and bereavement.

Every year in May, Dying Matters and their members host an Awareness Week, which gives an unparalleled opportunity to place the importance of talking about dying, death and bereavement firmly on the national agenda. The 2016 Awareness Week runs from 9th – 15th May and has the theme The Big Conversation.

To support Dying Matters Awareness Week 2016 they have created two exciting new resources around this year’s theme; The Big Conversation.

The attention-grabbing, bright and bold Big Conversation leaflet and poster feature the powerful strapline “Talking about dying won’t make it happen!”

The leaflet explains why talking about dying, death and bereavement is so crucial, and offers tips for initiating and continuing these conversations. It also advises on practical steps that can be taken to put our final wishes in place, as well as how to spread the message through our communities of the importance of discussing what we want at the end of our lives.
