Serta, Portland Lilburn and Memphis Rise and Recline Chairs – cosy on down this Christmas!

Thursday, December 5th, 2013 by morethan

NEW Riser Recliner Chairs

We don’t know why the manufacturer decided to call this the Memphis Rise and Recline Chair but perhaps if Elvis was still around perhaps he would enjoy our new More Than Mobility’s Memphis riser recliner chair.  Cosy-ing on down into the lovely soft new chenille fabric and listening to seasonal crooners and perhaps joining in.  He would have his choice of Biscuit, Berry, Mushroom or Charcoal colours.  For only £650 for a dual motor rise and recline with free courier delivery – Elvis knows a good deal when he sees one!

Perhaps he could head up to Portland to try out the new Portland Rise and Recline Chair – yes you can choose from Oyster, Mushroom, Russet or Graphite colours – with a weight limit of 23 stone this is a sturdy model at a great £635 price point that includes free courier delivery.

Perhaps Elvis might be tempted by the Serta Memory Foam Rise and Recline which adds an extra dimension to rise and recline seating with the memory foam  providing extra comfort and cooling.  With Timber and Oat colours in a choice of single or dual motors.

And finally with the Lilburn Cosi Rise and Recline Chair there is cocoa on the menu with herringbone cocoa and herringbone jute as colour options.  At £535 this is another great value product.

Elvis may have left the building but ours is full of lovely rise and recline chairs just waiting to wing their way to you before Christmas – give the team a call or buy from the rise and recline section on the website – the earlier the better – particularly after the recent bad weather that will inevitably set the couriers back a bit as they catch up.

Best wishes

Mobilising to reducing Loneliness in the UK

Thursday, December 5th, 2013 by morethan

Loneliness is a difficult subject – how do we distinguish between self-reliance and independence, good for our self esteem and health, and true loneliness that negatively impacts health and well-being.  True loneliness – where someone needs more social interaction is often hidden as the person is isolated, sometimes in terms of location but more often by the restrictions to health and mobility that come with old age.

If you have always been a quiet or contained person comfortable with family and a small circle of friends it can be particularly devastating when friends are lost and perhaps family lives a distance away.  It seems unlikely that habits of a lifetime will be overturned so social circles shrink and indeed even for the outgoing person the sheer effort of getting to and from events can simply be too much.

A  campaign launched in 2011 was given some broader publicity when Minister Jeremy Hunt highlighted the impact of loneliness in the UK http://www.campaigntoendloneliness.org and they are highlighting services such as that being launched by silver line to provide telephone support lines so that people can reach out for a chat and help.  No doubt they will also steer elderly callers to charities such as contact the elderly that has been working away making a difference for 50 years.

At this time of year each of us can make a bit of a difference – real contact even brief is of course best – but if you don’t know where to start maybe drop something into one of More Than Mobility’s supported charities, Contact the elderly’s coffers to help them expand and sustain their work?
