Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week (25th April – 1st May)

Tuesday, April 26th, 2016 by morethan

The Multiple Sclerosis Trust want to shape a fair future, where everyone affected by MS can access the specialist care that works for them. This MS Awareness Week we at More Than Mobility and the MS Trust want to highlight these challenges.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic neurological condition that affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord and to date there is no cure.   It is not fatal and most people with MS live about as long as everyone else.

Over 100,000 people in the UK have MS which is about one in every 600 people.   It is nearly three times more common in women than in men and most people are diagnosed in their 20s or 30s but it can be diagnosed in older people.

This year BE BOLD IN BLUE!

Be Bold in Blue is such a fun and easy way to support the MS Trust during MS Awareness Week (25th April – 1st May 2016).  What you do is really up to you and can be as simple or as extravagant as you wish.  Think about what you enjoy doing and how you can turn this into a Be Bold in Blue event or challenge.

Last year over 200 people signed up for Be Bold in Blue and raised over £20,000 to help support everyone affected by MS. Supporters raised money in lots of different ways including cake sales, dress blue days, raffles, tombola’s and dinner parties.

You can also visit the blue shop where you can buy many blue items such as wigs, tutus and wristbands to help you Be Bold in Blue. Finally when you social media about all the fun please remember to use the hashtag #‎beboldinblue.

If you sufferer from MS and need any specific mobility products do take a look at our More Than Mobility wide range of mobility products from mobility scooters, wheelchairs to daily living aids.

Best Wishes
